A New Haven Sister City since 2010
Yali High School
The informal relationship between New Haven and Changsha started in the early 1900s when the organization that is now called the Yale-China Association founded Yali High School and Xiangya Hospital and School of Medicine. An exchange of medical and educational knowledge has grown since, including a sister-school relationship between the Foote School and Yali that started in 2004. This exchange has allowed hundreds of students and teachers of both countries to visit the other country and share their cultures and experiences. Recently, Hopkins School also established a sister school in Changsha.

This city is as famous for it's jaw dropping combination of ancient and modern architecture, as well as for its vibrant nightlife. Changsha’s bright lights and regular fireworks displays dazzle locals and tourists alike.
At over 3000 years old, Changsha is also known for being one of the first cultural and historical cities in the world, as well as a place for learning. The Yuelu Academy is an ancient institution of learning that developed in 976 and has continuted for over 1,000 years. It is now part of Hunan University. It is located in the Yuelu Mountain Scenic Area on the west bank of Xiangjang River, in the Yuelu District of Changsha.

The history of Changsha goes all the way back to 1935 BCE, with the ancient name Qingyang. Since 1664, the city has flourished as the capital of the Hunan Province.

Places: The Mawang-dui Han Tombs
The Mawang-dui Han Tombs are one of the most fascinating attractions in all of the Hunan Province. The three tombs were excavated from 1972 to 1974, and more than 3000 ancient relics were found.
